Occupational Therapist, Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (S-CAMHS), ARFID Service.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is looking to appoint an innovative, proactive and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our new specialist service for children and young people with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). This is an exciting opportunity to join this new service as an Occupational Therapist within this new and evolving area of practice. This service is based within the S-CAMHS Eating Disorder Service where there is a Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist already in post.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to carry a caseload working within clinic, education and home environments and will be required to liaise closely with the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and the wider MDT within the ARFID service along with occupational therapists within other roles supporting Children and Young People within the Health Board.
You will also be required to liaise with professional networks across Wales and the United Kingdom relating to your area of specialism as part of both service development, clinical governance and to improve clinical practice.
The post holder will also be expected to offer training and support to the wider Occupational Therapy Service for Children and Young People, supervise staff and offer clinical placements to support the development of occupational therapy students within Wales.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will work as part of a Multi Disciplinary Team, which includes Dietetics, Psychology and Therapy Support Staff The successful post holder will be required to support with the design and establishment of this new service, developing patient focused pathways within ARFID. The role will require the post holder participate within multi-disciplinary assessments and clinics along with completing specialist Occupational Therapy assessments jointly with other members of the ARFID service as required.
The successful post holder will be expected to engage in relevant service and professional networks across Wales and the United Kingdom as part of service design, service development, clinical governance and to improve clinical practice.
As this is a new area of practice, training will be provided as required to the successful candidate.
Applications are invited from occupational therapists with demonstrable experience in working with children and young people, or from occupational therapists with experience in working with people with Eating Disorders.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current HCPC registration
- Knowledge of relevant current health and social care legislation applicable to role
- Knowledge and application of Microsoft Office software
- Understanding of the roles of other staff groups in health and social care
- Knowledge of a range of rehabilitation interventions across all therapies. Understanding and application of clinical governance, including research and audit methodology
- Understanding and application of relevant outcome measures to demonstrate effectiveness
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of other services that link across primary/second ary/intermediate care
- Working knowledge of therapeutic equipment
- Knowledge of Health Board and priorities

- Significant post graduate experience of working as an occupational therapist across a range of settings and variety of conditions

- Experience of contributing to service development and implementing service changes
