The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2024/2025 and will be implemented in November 2024 backdated to 1st April 2024 where applicable.

Job overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Haematology Team. Applications are invited from efficient and suitably qualified individuals for the post of a part time Band 4 Medical secretary, 15 hours per week (2 days), on a permanent basis.
The base (either Bronglais Hospital or Withybush Hospital) is to be confirmed depending on the successful applicant. Due to service requirements, the post holder will be required to work between 2 sites - Bronglais and Withybush.
Main duties of the job
Working 15 hours per week, the successful candidate will be required to support the delivery of a comprehensive and quality secretarial service to the Consultants and their teams.
You will undertake a wide-range of duties including receipt and distribution of mail, audio transcription, and the typing of highly sensitive letters and reports, maintaining confidentiality at all times. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisation skills and be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work. You must be able to work on your initiative, use tact and diplomacy where appropriate and possess excellent communication skills.
Experience of Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and E-mail coupled with proven secretarial skills and previous experience of medical terminology is essential. You will be required to use the Health Board’s patient database system and other relevant IT packages.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
