Job overview

The postholder will be responsible for providing clinical care at senior dental officer level with a particular focus on special care dentistry, paediatric dentistry, sedation services and services for other vulnerable patient groups that meet the criteria for treatment in CDS. You will assist the Clinical Director in the planning and delivery of Community Dental Services across Hywel Dda but with a particular focus on Ceredigion.

You will provide a range of Dental services in accordance with approved Health board plans and policies. These will include treatment of individual patients using inhalation sedation, intravenous sedation and may include care under general Anaesthesia on adults and children. You will be required to assist with the  training and development of community dentists, dentists with enhanced skills in special care dentistry and professions complimentary to dentistry.

Main duties of the job

The Hywel Dda Community Dental Service (CDS) is dedicated to providing dental care for vulnerable adults and children who may have difficulties in seeking and receiving dental treatment throughout the Ceredigion .  Our clinics are different to high street dental practices in that we see patients on a referral basis only, which ensures that they receive their treatment from the most appropriately trained member of the team and in the best clinic to suit their needs.  The Senior Dental Officer will be supported by the Clinical Lead and the Community Team.
