Job overview

Community Outpatients in Ceredigion are looking for a motivated and friendly individual to join the Team. You will work in Aberaeron Integrated Care Centre and also at Cardigan Integrated care Centre to cover a wide variety of clinics.

You will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of cost effective nursing care, as part of a nursing team, in support of and under the guidance and delegation of the Senior Sister or designated representative.

You will ensure that patients/clients receive safe and effective standards of care by following treatment interventions as delegated by the registered nurse overcoming barriers to understanding as they present. 

Main duties of the job

As a healthcare support worker you will:

- Undertake identified allocated tasks in relation to the care environment, the direct care of the patient/client as delegated in accordance with the Health Board’s policies and procedures

- Under delegation of the nurse in charge, work competently with or without direct supervision in the clinics, that will either be Consultant led in Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose and Throat, Paediatrics, Rheumatology, Diabetes and Orthopaedics, and our Nurse led clinics, supporting the registered nurse with Trial without catheter clinics, routine catheter change clinics and ear wax micro suction clinics, where full training will be given.  

- Communicate effectively at all times with patients and their carers in the clinic setting

Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good level of general education
  • Have a good understanding of health and/or social care eg. Clinical observations etc
  • NVQ 3 in a health care related subject or equivalent experience
  • Maintain a record of own personal development
  • Recognises the need for lifelong learning
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the role and scope of practice of the HCSW and understands the principles of safe delegation of care
Desirable criteria

  • Confirmation of successful completion of 120 credits at level 4
