Job overview

This is a fixed term or secondment opportunity – please see below for further detail on hours per week and length of contract.  The post will be offered on a secondment basis to those already employed by an NHS organisation.

Help us maintain the highest standards of safeguarding as our DBS Compliance Officer.

In this project-based role, you will undertake a comprehensive audit of DBS check levels across our organisation and ensure our ESR system is updated accordingly. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of DBS eligibility, particularly for NHS roles.

We welcome applications from those wishing to work between 30 and 37.5 hours per week.  Due to funding, the length of your contract/secondment will be determined by the number of hours worked per week, e.g. full time hours will be 5.5 months, 30 hours per week will be 7 months.

This role offers flexibility in working patterns and hybrid working.  There will be a requirement to attend the office usually twice a month, one of which will be at our Head Office in Cardiff.  At other times you will have the choice to work at any of our main office sites or from home, in line with our Work How it Works Best/Agile Working Policy.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply

  • Communicate complex DBS eligibility and compliance information effectively.
  • Maintain precise records of DBS requirements and updates.
  • Report regularly to various stakeholders on progress and updates.

Working for our organisation

We are Public Health Wales – the national public health organisation for Wales. Our purpose is ‘working together for a healthier Wales'. We exist to help all people in Wales live longer, healthier lives. With our partners, we aim to increase healthy life expectancy, improve health and well-being, and reduce inequalities for everyone in Wales, now and for future generations.

Together, our teams work to prevent disease, protect health, and provide leadership, specialist services and public health expertise. We are the main source of public health information, research and innovation in Wales.  Never more has public health been so important as we come through the Coronavirus pandemic, face the challenges of the cost-of-living crisis and tackle and prevent the harmful effects of climate change.

Our organisation is guided by our Values, 'Working together, with trust and respect, to make a difference'. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace that values equality, diversity and inclusion.  We welcome applications which represent the rich diversity of the communities we serve and from those wishing to work part time or on a job share basis.
