Lived Experience Lead (Band 7)
Job Purpose – To work with the national lived-experience lead and programme support officer in the scoping and realising of a national approach to the peer support workforce, co-production, recovery colleges and the potential for rolling out national best practice in these areas.
There will be three parts to the role, focussing on the recovery college model, co-production and the peer support workforce respectively. We are open to considering Part Time or Job Share applications if a candidate wishes to express an interest in a specific area.
Specialist skills
· Experience in acting in leadership or mentoring role within the peer support workforce
· Experience in facilitating multi-disciplinary project groups
· Involvement with rolling out new ways of working
· Lived-experience of mental health service provision and working with those in receipt of services
Main duties of the job
To support the Lead in development of projects relating to Lived Experience, Peer Support and the development of a recovery college.
This will include: administrative support with events and meetings as well as support in setting up campaigns, focus groups and capturing the experiences of others.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 8 months until 31-08-2025 due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Initiate a project to capture the experience of people with lived experience including carers, to inform the development of seamless care. This will capture and bring to life the impact of how we work from the perspective of the people at the centre, to assist the development of skills, competences and ways of working. Lived Experience Lead will develop a business case around the creation of an All-Wales Recovery College model.

Essential criteria
- Lived experience of mental health challenges and of using mental health services.
- Experience of change management.
- Experience in managing complex HR issues with staff e.g. the management of performance / long term sickness.
- Experience in guidelines and policy development.
Qulaification and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Educated to master’s degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent lived and professional experience.
- Evidence of recent continued professional development e.g. Recovery-focused and peer support related training activities.
- Knowledge of current health and social care policies.
Desirable criteria
- Project management qualification.
