Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Support Officer to join the National Pathology Programme. In this role, you will support the delivery of key actions from the Pathology Statement of Intent (2019). The Programme of work also aligns with the Diagnostic Recovery Transformation Plan for Wales (2023 - 2025).

 

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for providing both project and administrative support, including organising meetings and events, taking minutes for board-level meetings, and engaging with stakeholders within the Pathology service. There will also be opportunities for undertaking small projects for specific work streams, and assisting other members of the Programme team.  Where capacity is available, you may also provide support to other diagnostic Programmes such as the Endoscopy Programme and Imaging Programme.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, initiative, and the ability to manage your own workload while supporting the wider Programme team to ensure successful delivery.

The post holder will be based at River House, Ynys Bridge Court, Gwaelod-y-Garth, Cardiff however, staff are currently working from home.  In the future, there may be a need to travel across Wales to successfully meet the requirements of the post.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to NVQ 3 level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of qualification or significant equivalent previous proven experience.
  • Microsoft Office, typing/word processing qualifications or equivalent experience.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, including specialised IT systems and project management, training knowledge, acquired through formal training or experience to diploma level or equivalent
  • Experience in running an effective programme management office
Desirable criteria
  • Commitment to/evidence of ongoing personal training and development in a related area.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant administrative/ secretarial experience including initiating and maintaining office systems.
  • Experience of supporting projects
  • Experience of, and ability to use, a range of IT packages (MS teams).
  • Experience of coordinating and supporting meetings and events.
