Job overview

We are recruiting for a Phlebotomist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.  

We are looking for someone who is compassionate and has an excellent attention for detail to join our very busy, friendly Phlebotomy team. We are looking for experienced phlebotomist or we would be more than happy to train candidates who have all the right qualities but no experience.

You would be taking blood samples from patients in a number of settings ie, Out patients, wards, community, GP surgeries and in patients homes.

Main duties of the job

As a phlebotomist you will take blood samples in accordance with Phlebotomy policies and procedures.

Have a calming influence on all our patients having blood tests and help patients through this procedure.

Using correct blood collection methods and correct procedures dispatching for delivery to correct laboratories.

Using correct blood collection tubes and equipment

You will be working in numerous areas’ within Lister Hospital and also in the local community.

You would also be expected to cover for sickness and annual leave at our other sites Hertford County Hosiptal and QEII Hospital.

Qualifications/Training

Desirable criteria
  • GCSE in Maths, English and Science or equivalent.
  • ECDL

Previous Experience

  • Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS

  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills – ability to work alone and as part of a team.
