Working within a busy acute hospital we are seeking someone who is passionate about nutritional care to support the Nutrition and Dietetic teams working across adult wards and outpatient areas. This role will also support the team with admission and discharge of home tube fed patients, including management of the tube feeding databases.
Experience of working in a health care environment is essential, along with good IT and communication skills, and an ability to problem solve and work in a team.
This post is based within the Nutrition & Dietetic team at Peterborough City Hospital, but will involve working across Trust sites at times according to service demand. There is easy access between sites by car or train.
The team are part of the Rehabilitation Services Department consisting of Dietitians, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists & Physiotherapists, who are committed to joint working to deliver a high-quality service.

Main duties of the job
As a Dietetic Assistant Practitioner, you will conduct assessments and treatments for adult patients, managing your own caseload of non-complex patients. You will work under the guidance of a Registered Dietitian, devising and implementing treatment programs, and monitoring these programs to help patients achieve their nutrition goals. Additionally, you will support the Dietetic team with discharge planning for patients receiving home enteral feeding, ensuring seamless communication between community, hospital, and feed companies to manage feed prescriptions and equipment supplies efficiently.
Your responsibilities also include maintaining up-to-date home enteral feeding patient databases and participating in the in-service training program, supporting students as required. You will assist hospital Dietitians in delivering high standards of patient-cantered dietetic care, aligning with national and local policies and initiatives. Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to minimum of RQF Level 4 or 5 qualification in a Health and Social Care related discipline, or equivalent Band 3 experience
- RQF Level 2 qualification in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
- Nutrition and/or Dietetics Degree
- Training or teaching qualification
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a health care environment
- Experience of using databases and IT /admin systems
Desirable criteria
- Acute Hospital Experience
- Experience of providing training to others
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Working knowledge of using databases/clinical IT systems
- Understand the role of nutrition in health and in ill health
