Highly Specialist Physiotherapist - Team Lead

Job overview

The Critical Care and Surgery team at Peterborough City Hospital is looking for a dynamic Highly Specialised Team Lead Physiotherapist to join them in supporting the operational management of the team alongside undertaking an enhanced level of clinical caseload as part of a 12-month fixed term contract. (The post is 0.6 WTE but with the potential for this to be increased to 1.0 WTE).

Our Team is a combination of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Technicians and Assistants who are committed to joint working to deliver a high-quality service. The ideal candidate will work alongside another Team lead, to ensure the delivery of human resourcing key performance indicators, as well as undertaking a complex patient caseload.

If you are enthusiastic and motivated with a passion for Surgical, Respiratory and Critical Care working, this exciting role could be for you. Prior experience working in this field and demonstrating operational management skills is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Working as part of the Respiratory Physiotherapist Out of hours on call roster and ensuring the provision and safe delivery of this service. 
  • Oversight of the operational and Human Resourcing needs of the team and the wards / caseload we cover (respiratory, cardiac, surgical, respiratory outpatients)
  • Working in conjunction with the Highly Specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists within the team to deliver service and staff development in line with local and national initiatives.
  • Be accountable to the Lead Therapist for Critical and Care and Surgery.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Evidence of postgraduate training relevant to clinical area
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership training
  • Post graduate qualifications
  • CSP membership
  • Specialist section membership

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clear evidence of Post graduate experience within the respiratory or surgical setting (minimum 2 years in acute setting)
  • Experience of supervising and mentoring junior members of staff and pre-registration students
  • Multi-disciplinary working

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of clinical field applied for
  • Working knowledge of procedures and policies relating to line management
