Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ophthalmic Technician to join the Orthoptic Team at Peterborough City Hospital. The successful candidate will work alongside a dedicated team of Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Technicians & Nurses in a busy but supportive department. Some cross site working with Hinchingbrooke Hospital, once fully trained, will be expected.

 

Applicants will need to be enthusiastic, motivated & be keen to work hard in a busy environment. We are looking for someone who has good communication skills & who is able to empathise with patients.

 

Main duties of the job

Duties will be to deliver Ophthalmic Diagnostic Procedures across a number of different modalities. No previous experience is necessary as full training will be provided. The Department is actively developing new roles and services to expand the responsibility of these posts. Upon completion of 12 months experience and the key competencies, the role will progress to a Band 3 Senior Ophthalmic Technician.
