An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse to join our dedicated team within the Diagnostic Imaging Department, covering Maternity Leave for 12 months.

As a Diagnostic Imaging Nurse, you'll provide high-quality, patient-focused care within both Diagnostic Imaging and Theatre settings. Your role will be diverse and rewarding, working closely with Consultant Radiologists to assist with interventional procedures for both inpatients and outpatients.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Band 5 Nurse in a hospital setting
  • Background in a theatre or angio suite setting is highly advantageous

Working Hours:

  • Core hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00, with potential future adjustments based on service requirements
  • Possible on-call duties as required

This role provides a unique chance to learn and grow within a dynamic environment, with the potential to assist in innovative and evolving procedures. Some physical demands include wearing lead aprons for extended periods and manual handling of patients, beds, and trolleys.

Main duties of the job

  • Performing as a Scrub Nurse within the theatre setting
  • Booking and monitoring patients during procedures
  • Collaborating with Consultant Radiologists, Theatre teams, and the Interventional Lead Radiographer
  • Providing nursing support across the Imaging Department, liaising with various section heads as needed

Essential criteria
  • Adult Nurse level 1
  • Current NMC registration on other professional qualification
  • RODP / HCPC
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant Imaging / cardiac angiography qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years post qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Recovery trained
  • NHS experience

Knowledge

Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and local NHS targets and initiatives
  • Knowledge of diagnostic investigations
  • Working knowledge of nurse led discharge
  • Aware of the current changes in the NHS and at NWAFT
