Finance Business Partner

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic professional to join our Financial Management Team at North West Anglia NHS FT. Reporting to the Divisional Head of Finance, the post holder will provide effective and professional financial leadership working alongside our Divisions. The Finance Business Partners play a critical role working alongside divisional leadership teams, clinical and wider corporate colleagues supporting delivery of the annual and strategic objectives. 

The Finance Business Partner will act as the strategic financial lead for one or more Divisions / Business Units providing high quality financial information, support and advice. The post holder will oversee the production of monthly management accounts and other standard finance reports / dashboards to inform management decision making.

As an integral member of the divisional leadership team the post holder will be expected to work closely with Clinicians and Managers across the Trust and will be committed to constantly seeking ways to improve the processes that they oversee.

Main duties of the job

To maintain the integrity of the Trust’s financial systems, control environment, procedures and reports.

To maintain professional standards within the Financial Directorate.

To ensure that Standing Financial Instructions, Standing Orders, financial policies and procedures are adhered to.

To support the identification and delivery of cost improvement savings schemes.

To deputise for the Divisional Head of Finance and Deputy Director of Finance as required. Any other duties as may be required by the Senior Finance Leadership Team and Chief Finance Officer.

To undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with the relevant institute requirements, and to be involved in the training and development of colleagues within the Finance team.

Degree Level

Essential criteria
  • Education to degree level or equivalent
  • CCAB qualified accountant / sufficient relevant experience
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification to degree or post graduate level

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A proven track record of providing effective financial advice at a senior level
  • Experience at senior level within the NHS or comparable complex environment
  • Successful change management, planning and implementation
  • Leading, managing and developing staff
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of the year end annual accounts production and external audit

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Numerate with highly developed analytical ability to manipulate and interpret numerical data and other issues
  • Performance management skills
Desirable criteria
  • Project management skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the full range of MS packages including Word (report formatting, tables etc), Excel (pivot tables, macros look ups etc)
