Located in the western part of Cambridgeshire, the historic towns of Peterborough and Huntingdon have been transformed by town development schemes bringing improvements in housing, education, and employment opportunities. All hospital sites are accessible by road or train within easy commute distance from London, Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham.
As a Specialty Doctor, you will ensure the delivery of a high-quality ENT care to inpatients at Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough City Hospitals while leading the junior ENT staff in ward rounds. In addition, you will undertake regular elective outpatient clinics across the Trust’s footprint.
At North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, we have dedicated state-of-the-art outpatients’ clinics, theatres and a shared Head and Neck/Urology Ward.

Main duties of the job
The sessional commitments are of 10 PAs per week, 9 PAs of Direct Clinical Care (includes clinical activity, clinically related activity, predictable and unpredictable emergency work) and on average 1PA per week of Supporting Professional Activities.
You will be part of the designated outpatient and operating sessions under the supervision of the Unit's 10 Consultants to meet their individual educational needs and service provision. A full shift three-tier on-call rota is in operation on a pattern of 1 in 8 with Peterborough City Hospital as the hot-site.
You will travel to Hinchingbrooke Hospital while on-call if required in exceptional circumstances. It is therefore, mandatory that you will hold a driving licence/car and are able to drive.
You will actively participate in regular audit and post-graduate educational meetings. In addition, you will attend the monthly departmental teaching sessions.

Essential
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
- Four years full-time postgraduate training or equivalent
- Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of ability to manage staff within the specialty at all levels
Applicant requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
