Are you a kind, passionate and enthusiastic individual?  We are looking for a motivated and caring individual wanting to support the team by providing excellent administrative service and creative ideas, as well as gaining new experience and knowledge.

You will be working alongside a fantastic team while remaining calm in a busy and dynamic environment supporting the Ward Manager and Deputy Sisters/Charge Nurses.

This post can offer the flexibility to work 30 hours alongside the Coronary Care Units ward manager assistant job. Both the Cardiac Ward and Coronary Care Unit work collaboratively together.

Main duties of the job

As a Ward Manager’s Assistant, your role will be:

  • To support the ward manager and nursing team as directed with administrative support,
  • To provide a full and comprehensive administrative support for the ward manager, this may include meetings, bookings and trainings and organisation of development of staff.
  • To be highly organised as well as being flexible and possessing the ability to work as an integral team member
  • Motivated and dynamic personality ready to use initiative and innovation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to use IT skills and computers

  • You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be friendly and approachable with good telephone manner.
  • Able to use IT facilities for patient's information retrieval.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to use own initiative to identify improvements and to use negotiating skills to implement changes
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills allowing effective communication between all internal and external service users
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and stay calm under pressure
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Numerate and literate, with Maths and English GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2/3
Desirable criteria
  • IT Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in an acute or health care clerical environment.
  • Customer service experience
  • Administration experience to NVQ level 2 or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and outlook.
  • Working knowledge of confidentiality requirements and data protection act.
  • Clear, concise verbal and written communication
Desirable criteria
  • NHS experience knowledge of discharge planning

  • Be able to work as part of a team under pressure
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative without direct supervision, prioritising and managing own workload.
