This is an exciting opportunity within the criminal justice pathway with services provided by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation Trust for a team manager to operationally ensure the delivery of the Liaison and Diversion Service for Cambridgeshire.

Liaison and Diversion is an all-age service which provides high quality screening and assessment of individuals who have encounter the criminal justice system.  Individuals may present in police custody, magistrates or crown courts in Cambridgeshire and will include offering assessments to voluntary interviewees.   

L&DS assessments look to identify a wide range of health and social care vulnerabilities including mental illness, physical health needs, trauma/ personality disorder, acquired brain injury, alcohol and/or substance use, homelessness, learning disabilities or low IQ, autism, speech and language and communication needs, ADHD, etc.  Women and veterans are offered assessments as a priority, as are service users who may have committed high shame crime such as taking and distributing indecent images of children and child sexual exploitation.  The team also assess the needs of children and young people.

The team also provide Primary Mental Health Treatment Requirements to individuals who have been assessed as suitable for low level psychological intervention under the supervision of a psychologist.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of the Liaison and Diversion Service (L&D) for Cambridgeshire. The post can be based in either Cambridge or Peterborough as the L&D service is a trust-wide service. The job role will include cross-cover when needed across the service. This will include effective clinical leadership and workforce supervision, management of human and budgetary resources, ensuring the service operates evidence-based practice within the community setting as well as evident ability to co-ordinate varying tasks in care delivery and manage unplanned challenges.

 The role includes working with the Senior team in fully implementing the NHS Plan, NICE Quality Standards and delivering the Trusts strategic objectives. To complete audit / evaluation of service delivery and engage with the Operational Management Team on service development plans.

 You will also support the evolving team by ensuring that operational policies are adjusted and aligned to service transformation, and that innovative practice is robustly implemented, and you will be expected to maintain a visible, professional presence providing staff with assistance, advice, and support.

This post is predominately Monday – Friday 9 am – 5 pm but there may be times when flexibility is expected in line with role and responsibility.  There will be times when travelling to other bases  within Cambridgeshire and further afield dependant on need.

Monitor and evaluate the standard of care and take action to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained.

Identify and be responsive to the diverse cultural, social, and spiritual needs of all service users and staff.

Promote service awareness and any other relevant training to key stake holders.

Identify and intervene proactively in situations that contribute to an unsafe environment for patients and staff.

Work flexibly to ensure cover across all teams. To provide clinical interventions and assessments depending on service needs.

Contribute to and undertake duties relating to future developments in the service.

Education/Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse for Mental Health or Learning Disability and registered with the NMC with a diploma and/or degree, Practice Educator. OR • Qualified Social Worker with current registration to practice in the UK.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Evidence of continued personal and professional development.
