Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to make a difference in a dynamic healthcare environment? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our busy and dedicated admin team within the Surgery Clinical Business Unit at the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to Consultants and their medical team within the Department and also ensuring the provision of an effective service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to perform a high level of secretarial and administration tasks within the Trauma & Orthopaedic Department.  You will need to be able to work efficiently and accurately and work flexibly and confidentially across the Trust independently and as part of a team liaising with colleagues at all levels.

You will have good communication skills and will be responsive to the needs of the service. You will be a point of contact for patients, speciality teams and other departments for all enquiries relating to patient admissions. You will be responsible for the tracking of patient pathways in accordance with the National targets.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level standard English Language at Grade A-C, or equivalent
  • RSA III typing, or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Audio typing qualification, or recent relevant experience
  • Previous secretarial and/or office experience
  • Experience of working with the general public and/or professionals
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within the NHS and an understanding of medical terminology
  • Experience of using hospital systems, for example CareFlow PAS (Patient Administration System)

  • Good standard of written and verbal communication at all levels
  • Organisational skills and a flexible approach to work
