Job overview

You will be the welcoming face of the unit, therefore we are looking for a professional and enthusiastic individual, who demonstrates good communication and interpersonal skills.

You will need to have an ability to be flexible in your role and duties due to the dynamic nature of the unit and within Neonatal services. There will be a high level of contact with colleagues from all professions, babies and their families and you will be expected to provide clerical / administration support to members of the nursing team at ward level. 

We are seeking to recruit someone who enjoys a challenge and who is able to work as part of a small team within a much larger one, whilst being able to work under their own initiative. 

Working week is 26 hours covering a 7 day service.  These hours are flexible to suit your availability and the needs of our service, please contact Debs Milham to discuss prior to the application closing date.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the smooth application and control of all administration, clerical and computer processes associated with the work area.  Ensure the provision of effective communication to both service users and staff to enhance patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To welcome patients, relatives and carers on arrival to the ward.
  • Ensure patient details are correct on our IT systems and complete  admission details on arrival.
  • To deal with enquiries and to pass information to the appropriate staff. 
  • To provide a courteous, responsive and effective point of contact (in person and by telephone) for patients, carers and healthcare professionals, both internal and external to the Trust.
