We are seeking a dedicated professional to coordinate administrative support for Cambridge Medical Students within our Medical Education department. In this pivotal role, you will liaise with Undergraduate Specialty Tutors, Clinical Teaching Fellows, the Clinical School at Cambridge University, and departmental secretaries.
Additionally, you will provide essential support to the Director and Deputy Director of Medical Education, the Medical and Dental Education Manager, and the entire Medical Education Team. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with the planning and implementation of Junior Doctors Inductions. Join us and play a crucial role in shaping the future of medical education!
Main duties of the job
This role provides administrative support to the Undergraduate Medical Students Administrator for Cambridge Medical Students, assisting with medical student inductions, and preparing timetables, teaching sessions, and clinical placements for students across all year grades. Responsibilities include organising Formative Reviews for Year 4 Medical Students, handling telephone and in-person inquiries efficiently, and supporting the Simulation Administrator in setting up training sessions and meetings. Additionally, the post holder will maintain databases and spreadsheets related to simulation activities and manage their workload independently, prioritising daily tasks without close supervision.
Effective communication is crucial in this role, as it requires liaising with medical students, Clinical Teaching Fellows, Undergraduate Specialty Tutors, and the Clinical Medical School at Cambridge University. The post holder will use various communication tools, including telephone, emails, MS Teams/Zoom, and letters, to interact with colleagues, students, simulation session attendees, facilitators, and actors.

Education and Quals
Essential criteria
- GCSE Math and English at least grade C or equivalent
- Good standard of written and verbal English
Desirable criteria
- General knowledge of policies, procedures and practices of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education
Experience
Essential criteria
- Administration experience
- High level knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working within Medical Education or Medical Staffing
- Experience of working in an NHS Hospital or healthcare environment
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to work autonomously, to take responsibility and to work under pressure, meeting tight deadlines
- Prioritising workload based on immediate and longer-term action needed to maintain all elements of the training programme and curriculum requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively through both written and verbal communications across different levels of the organisation and with external partners
