We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, to join our team as a Trainee Colposcopist/Gynaecology Oncology Nurse. This is a trainee role and will commence at a band 6. We would ask that you can demonstrate a commitment to the training package

We are a small, hard-working, passionate gynaecology team running nurse led clinics in fertility, colposcopy, urogynaecology, oncology and early pregnancy. We offer induction, ongoing support, training and development to all our staff.

Currently the gynaecology outpatient clinics runs Monday-Friday 0800-1800 and the training for this post is predominately at our Hinchingbrooke site.  All of our posts may involve occasional cross site working, to meet the needs of the service.

Main duties of the job

On becoming an accredited Nurse Colposcopist,  the post holder  will provide an autonomous nurse-led service  and will work with the other nurse colposcopists, 

The post-holder will offer and maintain a comprehensive service by seeing women, performing investigations and treatments as appropriate and where necessary make clinical decisions in relation to best evidence based practice.

The post holder will have the responsibility of ensuring safe clinical practice and confidentiality is carried out in the clinical environment as directed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), national, regional and local protocols.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC registration with ongoing professional development
  • Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Qualification/study in cancer/gynaecology cancer or recent appropriate clinical practice in speciality

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 2 years post qualification
  • Experience in teaching, assessing, coaching
Desirable criteria
  • Research involvement
  • Presenting skills, or evidence of previously managing meetings

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Research processes, evidence-based practice and ability to critically analyse own practice
  • Audit processes

Key Skills

  • Advanced communication skills, such as difficult conversations, conflict resolution or counselling
