Job overview
We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic, forward thinking and motivated Management Accountant who is passionate about delivering an excellent standard of work. Bringing with you an open mind to encourage different ways of working that will continuously improve the level of financial support that the finance team at CPFT provide to colleagues, and other partners in the local NHS healthcare system.
You would be joining a supportive and experienced team who are based in Huntingdon. However, this particular role may work more often in the Windsor Research Unit, based in Fulbourn. This would require you to attend meetings with colleagues, either virtually, or face to face and taking the opportunity to spend time with them to understand the invaluable services that the NHS offer.

Main duties of the job
The post will be part time, substantive & 22.5 hours per week, supporting the Trust's Research and Development Team.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a wide breadth of accounting experience and will show strong communication skills, including the ability to analyse, understand and communicate financial information to non finance colleagues.
Main duties will include the timely production of monthly management accounts, forecasting, variance analysis, assisting in the costing of new service developments, and supporting the delivery of cost improvement plans.
The role also requires the post holder to maintain regular contact with budget managers, enabling them to accurately report and forecast financial information. This will include on occasion working from the research team base in Cambridge.

- Production of timely, accurate and reliable financial information in line with month and year end timetables.
- Establish effective working relationships with budget holders, ensuring understanding and ownership of financial issues pertinent to their services.
- Supporting the Finance Manager with budget-setting and maintenance of a defined portfolio of services.
- Supporting the Finance Manager with research award costings
- Monitoring of costs and early identification of financial risks

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- AAT Qualified or equivalent experience
- Evidence of compliance with institute CPD requirements
Desirable criteria
- Ambition to gain further professional qualification
- CCAB part-qualified
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in an NHS or similar non-profit organisation
- Experience in finance
- Experience of working with financial systems and processes
- Demonstrate experience in the analysis and assessment of financial and non-financial data
Desirable criteria
- Experience in similar role for more than 3 years
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication skills including presentation and summary of data into meaningful information for non-finance managers and colleagues
- Strong IT skills including Word, Excel and financial systems
- Effective problem-solving skills, especially for new issues where no precedent to follow
- Ability to manage own workload
