We have a fantastic opportunity for a Dietitian keen to progress their career in Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders. A new role has been created within the Tier 4 Eating disorder service, assisting developing a new day unit model. The post holder will be an integral part of the MDT lead service and the development of this new model of care in Cambridgeshire.

You would join our dietetic team consisting of 23 dietitians and 13 dietetic assistants with good admin support. The Mental Health dietetic team comprises 3 other dietitians working across Children’s and Adult’s mental health. As the main focus of the work will lie embedded in the Day Unit Eating Disorders Team the base will begin at the Phoenix Centre in Cambridge, then transfer to Brookside Children’s Centre (also in Cambridge). You will also be working alongside you colleagues who work within the CAMH eating disorders service.

The post holder will need to be HCPC registered, be dynamic and innovative, with excellent communication skills for both families and young people.

This role will initially be based at our Ida Darwin site in Fulbourn before relocating in approx. 12 months (date TBC) to our Brookside Family Consultation Clinic in Cambridge.

  • To deliver a specialist child and adolescent mental health role in the Nutrition and Dietetic Service in Cambridge & Peterborough Foundation Trust (CPFT).
  • To work as a dietetic practitioner within uni-professional and multi-professional team environments with regular supervision
  • To assess and treat a case load of patients in line with the Model and Process for Dietetic Consultations and maintain associated records.
  • Deliver a high standard of dietetic care in specialist care settings
  • To deliver education and training sessions related to Mental Health
  • To supervise or monitor the work of students or other dietetic staff
  • To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work and workload

1.    To provide a specialist dietetic service to CAMH countywide Eating disorders pathway  
2.    To provide a specialist dietetic service to the tertiary CAMH in patient units along with other dietetic colleagues.
3.    To nutritionally diagnose, give appropriate advice and formulate treatment plans when consulting with patients, relatives and carers, taking into account factors such as the clients presenting condition, past medical history, social considerations and medication
4.    To maintain accurate records of all patient consultations and related work carried out at each clinical session, including computerised data collection.
5.    To undertake systematic literature reviews and critically appraise the evidence identified and identify implications for practice
6.    To ensure evidence based, auditable dietetic standards are in place across the team, developing and updating as necessary
7.    To develop and update written resources, for example diet sheets and patient advice leaflets
8.    To lead projects dealing with new ways of working in mental health, taking into account national and local initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and development
9.    To act as a point of reference for dietetic colleagues and other health professionals with respect to mental health, giving advice, training and supporting their clinical practice
10.    To liaise with other health professionals and managers on issues regarding service development and the clinical management of patients

Education / Qualifications

  • Qualification in dietetics recognised by the HCPC for registration as a dietitian working in the UK.
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent work experience
  • Strong CPD evidence in portfolio for ongoing maintenance of competencies

  • Clinical supervision training
  • Previous publications or presentations at local, national or international level.
  • Recognised patient group education training
  • Student Training course.
  • Masters or equivalent in a therapeutic clinical area, eg Family Therapy
  • Post graduate qualifications in paediatric dietetics
  • Familiar with the FBT manualised model of working with young people and there families living with Eating Disorders

Experience

  • Significant post registration experience at a senior level
  • Nutritional support and HEF specific experience
  • Multidisciplinary team working.
  • Understanding of the nature of community care in the NHS and a strong desire to work in the community setting
  • Experience in working with children and young people
  • Experience working in mental health

  • Active participation in student training in previous post(s).
  • Working at a strategic level with clinical units/GP partners, including Local Commissioning Groups, Medicines Management, ICS.
