We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Nurse/ Paramedic within our MIU's.
The position will be based at Ely but could be asked to work at one of the other units at Doddington and Wisbech when needed.
Shift times are 08:30-18:30 Monday - Friday and 08:45-17:15 Weekends/ BH. The units are open 7 days a week
Working in a busy and fast paced Minor Injuries Unit, the successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, polite, and have an ability to work under pressure at times.
The ideal candidate will have a strong team work ethic and the ability and willingness to travel and work in any of the three Minor Injuries Units. They will have access to structured supervision as well as the opportunity to undertake training to enhance their role within the team.
Main duties of the job
We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse or Paramedic / ECP with significant post registration experience, Primary Care or ED experience and specialist knowledge in Minor Injury and illness to work flexibly across our Minor Injuries Service.
We are looking for skilled individuals who are enthusiastic, self-motivated and have well-developed clinical skills. You will be adept at wound assessment and closure, the assessment and management of musculoskeletal injuries (including X-ray requesting and interpretation) and minor illness and be able to develop your practice to reach the advanced level required to work in an entirely nurse/ Paramedic-led environment.
You will be offered the opportunity to develop your individual competency framework and will have access to structured management and clinical supervision.

- Assess, investigate, diagnose, plan and implement complete package of care for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions
- Provide opportunistic health promotion and education for clients within the service
- Using “Patient Group Directions” and acting in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Practice or appropriate professional body guidelines, issue medications as required for patients attending the Minor Injuries Service.
- As a team member, provide support to the Lead Practitioner to enhance clinical practice and person/patient-centered care.
- To provide evidence based self-care advice and treatment to patients.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse 1st Level or Registered Paramedic with significant experience
- Minor Injury/ illness course / or significant experience working at that level to see and treat patients independently
- Advanced clinical assessment skills
- At least 4-year experience
- Red Dot Course/ IRMER
Desirable criteria
- Other relevant qualifications ie RSCN, Midwifery, HV, ENB199, etc
- Independent & supplementary prescribing (NMC registered only).
- Experience of teaching in clinical practice.
- Experience in shift management / supervision of staff

- Significant amount experience working as an independent practitioner within emergency or primary care or MSK.
- Management experience at ward/department level/ managing shifts / services
- Broad range of clinical and managerial experience.
- Experience of change management.
