Sister/Charge Nurse - Transplant Unit

We have an exciting opportunity for an for a highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join our team as a Sister/Charge Nurse for a secondment of between 9 to 12 months  on G5 at Cambridge University Hospitals.

G5 is a 28 bedded Transplant unit. We admit patients directly from home pre-operatively, prepare them for theatre and aim to provide exceptional standards of care throughout their surgical journey and into recovery. The Roy Calne Transplant unit is a specialist centre caring for kidney, simultaneous kidney and pancreas, liver, multi-visceral transplant and encapsulating peritoneal sclerosis patients. The work is fast paced, wide ranging and we are well respected both regionally and as a national referral centre

Closely supported by the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and Matron you will work together as part of the Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse team to ensure the smooth running of the unit.  You will also be supported to develop in your role as a leader within the exciting field of surgery and transplantation.

This post is part time involves and full range of shifts including nights and weekends and will require participation in the divisional nurse bleep holder rota.

As a Charge Nurse/ Sister you will be instrumental in ensuring the application of effective clinical practice of all staff so patients receive the highest possible standard of care.

Ensure that care delivered to patients within the department is monitored and within expected standards of care.

Collaboratively work with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that standards of care are consistently maintained.

Provide expert clinical advice to ensure appropriate treatment and care is delivered to the patient at all times.

An emphasis on the role is not only managing areas of the department but supporting the Senior Sister in the management of staff and the wider division.
