Sister/Charge Nurse - Hyper Acute Stroke Unit
Band 6

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated nurse with excellent communication skills to join our team as a Sister/Charge Nurse on R2/HASU (Hyper Acute Stroke Unit) at Cambridge University Hospitals.
R2 is a 14 monitor bedded Comprehensive Stroke Centre that delivers regional Mechanical Thrombectomy service for the East of England. It has a strong multi-disciplinary team, providing care to Hyper-acute and acute patient following a stroke.
Closely supported by the ward manager and Matron you will work together as part of the Band 6 team to ensure the smooth running of the unit. You will also be supported to develop in your role as a leader within the exciting field of Stroke.
The full time (37.5 hours per week) and part-time (26.5 hours/ per week) posts involve a full range of shifts including bank holidays, nights and weekends and will require participation in the Stroke Alert Team rota.

To manage and co-ordinate nursing care and to provide a safe and effective level of patient care.
To assist with the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care using agreed frameworks.
To participate in the supervision and teaching of qualified and unqualified staff including students.
To regularly take charge of the ward.
To deputise for the ward manager across the full range of ward management (Rostering, sickness management, Datix investigations, Audits, patient flow).
To participate in the Stroke Alert Team rota.

- Current registration with the NMC as an adult nurse with experience in Neurosciences and/or acute settings
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Practice assessor and supervisor

- Evidence of teaching qualification
- Level 6 or 7 course in Stroke Nursing or evidence of working towards this.
