Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic well organised and enthusiastic candidate to the role of Glaucoma Coordinator within the Ophthalmology department to give a high level of patient service.

You will be supported to learn and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours you need to perform in the job role.

Main duties of the job

The Role of the Glaucoma Coordinator is to provide a comprehensive and effective administrative service to support the smooth and efficient running of the Glaucoma Service within Ophthalmology.  This includes booking clinic appointments, managing the clinics, ensuring follow up appointments and post ops are booked within a defined timescale, the creation and sending of letters, line management of the Community Glaucoma Coordinator and liaising with the clinical team to ensure a smooth and safe patient experience.

Supporting the Glaucoma team in managing the Overdue patients by liaising with the Clinic coordinators and outpatients team to ensure patients are booked and managed within a timely manner.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths & English or equivalent
  • Customer Service/ Business Admin /ITQ or equivalent professional experience
Desirable criteria
  • Training on managing patient pathways

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working within a clinical setting
  • Prioritising, planning and organising own and others tasks
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations
  • Data entry experience and documentation
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in NHS
  • Previous experience of working with medical records
  • Experience of working with EPIC hospital system
  • Experience of running reception areas for outpatient clinics

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Confidentiality and data protection processes and procedures
  • Customer service
  • Good working knowledge of office procedures and all Microsoft office packages
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of the Trust including awareness of priorities
  • Knowledge of Trust information systems EPIC, Envoy and MyChart
  • Knowledge of RTT targets
