Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow (ST6+/Senior) In Oesophago-Gastric Upper GI Surgery based in Addenbrooke's Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12 month post available from 02 October 2024.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be primarily responsible for the day to day care of the patients on the Upper GI Oesophago-gastric Unit which has eight Consultants, a Senior Specialist Registrar, a Core Trainee, four Foundation Year Trainees, four Clinical Nurse Specialists, three Dieticians and a dedicated enhanced recovery ward. The successful candidate will be involved with all aspects of the elective and emergency work of this team and will share responsibilities with the Registrar. They will also be on the emergency rota for General Surgery and Trauma.
This post offers opportunities for significant operative experience of oesophageal & gastric surgery including relevant advanced minimally invasive procedures and experience in the management of complex tertiary referrals. The Unit performs 80-100 resections per annum. Applicants should be peri or post-CCT or equivalent and planning a career in Upper GI Surgery.

The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
