We are looking for a Specialist Physiotherapist wishing to work either Part Time (a minimum of 18.75 hours per week) or Full Time in our Limb Reconstruction Service. In this service, you will be working alongside our Limb Reconstruction Consultants and a Clinical Nurse Practitioner to develop this service.

You would be required to work in both Orthopaedic Clinic and Outpatient settings to provide rehabilitation and management of patients who have required frames or other modalities such as lengthening nails, etc. to manage their injuries.

Within this service, you will be required to follow the patient through from their discharge from the acute hospital back into the Community. You will be responsible for them accessing the appropriate rehabilitation and support. This will involve you undertaking education of all stakeholders involved in the patients' pathway in and around the region.

Within the Outpatient element, you would be involved alongside the Consultant and the Specialist Nurse to manage this cohort of patients in Clinic and in a Musculoskeletal Outpatient setting.  You would be required to set up the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Service here at Addenbrooke’s to enhance the recovery of this patient cohort; this will include 1:1 consultations and group sessions, etc.

You will have proven knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of patients requiring limb reconstructive surgery and demonstrate a passion for improving their outcomes and quality of life.

Main duties of the job

To perform advanced specialist physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse medical, neurological and musculoskeletal presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme and to maintain records as an autonomous Practitioner.

To educate and train Physiotherapy colleagues, students and the multidisciplinary team regarding the Orthopaedics specialist area of Physiotherapy, and ensure in particular that the Orthopaedics Team are competent in assessing and treating patients being managed through the Limb Construction Service.

To undertake management roles appraising and mentoring staff and recruitment and selection.

To be actively involved in the development of the Trauma and Orthopaedics Team and Physiotherapy Service as a whole.

To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice. Lead implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
