Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice (Band 3) or Qualified (Band 4) Assistant Practitioner in Mammography to join our multi-disciplinary team at the Cambridge Breast Unit.
The service delivers both breast screening and symptomatic mammography. The Cambridge Breast Unit uses fully digital mammography with three mammography rooms, all being tomosynthesis systems.
We perform a range of examinations and interventional procedures such as vacuum assisted biopsy. In addition, we have two mobile screening units to provide the important primary screening to the Cambridgeshire area.
As an Assistant Practitioner in the Cambridge Breast Unit, you will be part of a dedicated team providing a high-quality patient-centred Mammography Service.

Main duties of the job
To work designated sessions in mammography under direct or indirect supervision, attendance at an accredited University course, producing consistently high standards of mammographic radiography and client/patient care, ensuring an efficient service is maintained at all times.
To operate in all locations and be involved in breast screening. To assist the radiographic department assistants in their specific roles.

This is deemed to be an occupational requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 schedule 9 paragraph 1 and the Employment Statutory Code of Practice Chapter 13 paragraphs 13.5-13.9.
Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full time permanent contract unless you have:
- applied for a Graduate visa
- or you will have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment
- or the Trust has agreed that they will Sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipated start date of employment
NB: Due to UK apprenticeship funding regulations, applicants must have a right to work in the UK or for EU citizens, hold pre-settled or settled status and have been a UK resident for the last three years or have indefinite leave to remain with documents that are not due to expire during the duration of the apprenticeship contract. Applicants must also not already have a qualification at a higher level within the same subject matter.
Please note that if undertaking the apprenticeship for this role, all qualifications and competencies must be met before progressing into the Band 4 role.
Band 3: £24,071 - £25,674 p.a. pro rata
Band 4: £26,530 - £29,114 p.a. pro rata
