You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership and managerial skillset, as well as to maintain a clinical commitment to a relevant specialty.
Our ideal candidate would have an extensive background within clinical pharmacy, a passion for service improvement, be able to build excellent working relationships and have a track record of delivering on projects at divisional and organisational level.
If successful you would have the opportunity to work alongside system leaders and MDT colleagues to improve the management of patients receiving care at CUH.

Main duties of the job
Deputise for the Associate Chief Pharmacist – Clinical Pharmacy Services (ACP-CS)
Plan, lead and evaluate inpatient focussed clinical pharmacy services in conjunction with the Lead/Consultant Pharmacists.
Support the ACP-CS with business planning and service development, including maintaining an effective recruitment strategy.
Support the ACP-CS to implement key innovations and service developments relating to clinical pharmacy practice e.g. incorporation of pharmacogenomics into clinical pharmacy practice, pharmacist prescribing at the point of registration, Pharmacy Technician clinical screening, job planning, digital innovation.
Support the ACP-CS and the Consultant Pharmacist Medication Safety to ensure governance and safety of the clinical pharmacy service and medicines use in general.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Masters level degree in pharmacy
- Post-graduate preregistration year
- Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy*
- Qualified as independent prescriber
Desirable criteria
- MSc in Clinical Pharmacy*
- Risk management training
- Management or leadership training /qualification
- Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive post-registration hospital pharmacy experience.
- Very experienced clinical pharmacist dealing with medicines queries from all grades of staff, professionals and patients.
- Experience of direct supervision of senior and junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Experienced clinical pharmacist with experience as a lead pharmacist for a relevant clinical specialty at band 8b who has also covered a large range of specialties.
- Experienced in documentation in medical notes
- Experience of consultant ward round/clinic or MDT participation attendance
- Experience of leadership and human resources management of a clinical pharmacy team
- Experience of service development including monitoring of outputs
- Experience of staff development
- Experience of managing performance
- Experience of recruitment and selection processes
- Experience of writing reports and contributing to business cases
- Writing clinical management plans
- Writing drug policies and guidelines and PGD development.
- Evidence of having conducted clinical audit, service evaluation or research project
- Experience of managing drug recalls and drug shortages
Desirable criteria
- Recent post-registration hospital experience, ideally including previous experience in a teaching hospital and experience of more than one hospital.
- Evidence of having written pharmaceutical and/or educational publications.
- Experience as a personal tutor/manager to a range of staff groups.
- Drug expenditure analysis and reporting.
- Horizon scanning
- Ability to take initiative and lead on projects including change management
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Highly specialised clinical knowledge of drugs and therapeutic trends within relevant specialist area(s).
- Awareness of, NICE and other national guidance related to medicines and care of patients in specialist area.
- Previous involvement in implementation of the relevant guidance.
- Good knowledge of Health care systems and NHS changes.
- Good knowledge and experience of literature review critical appraisal audit and research methodology.
- Computer knowledge with good experience of Word, Powerpoint and Excel
