Fixed-term contract for 26 months

 

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working.

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an Apprentice Physiotherapist to join our experienced, dedicated and forward thinking team at MKUH. 

 

In line with Apprenticeship Funding rules, please only apply if all of the below factors apply to you.

  • You are 16 years old or over
  • You have resided in the UK or EEA for at least the past 3 years, 
  • You can produce physical evidence of you’re the required qualifications noted
  • Not be in full time education at the point of starting this role
  • Not previously undertaken a similar or higher qualification (MSc in Physiotherapy)

For the first 12 months of the apprenticeship, you will be paid the national apprentice wage. From month 13 to the end of contract, you will receive the national pay vs your age. Main duties of the job

Main duties will include supporting the delivery of specialist group exercise therapy to patient; 1:1 exercise sessions under the guidance of a qualified Physiotherapist; assessment and treatment planning for a specific caseload; management and maintenance of equipment.

  • To clinically assess and progress/adapt treatment/care programmes of appropriate patients in an out-patient setting.
  • To develop and implement treatment/care programmes for appropriate patients in an out-patient setting.
  • To assist physiotherapists in the implementation of treatment/care programmes for routine and complex patients in an out-patient setting.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Apprenticeship programme will be delivered by our external NHS approved training provider, leading to a BSc in Physiotherapy, allowing the successful candidate to practice as a physiotherapist. You will take part in interactive workshops, placements, self-study and more. You will be assigned a tutor to support you throughout the programme, as well as receiving support from the MKUH Apprenticeship Team.

  • To be professional and legally accountable for all aspects of your own work.

Personal development:

  • To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through completion of the competency and development pack and through evidence of continuous professional development activities and to maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development.

Organisational: 

  • To ensure compliance with organisational, departmental and service policies and procedures.

Qualifications & knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Five GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above or equivalent: And one of the following:
  • Three A Levels at BBC or above (in subjects other than General Studies) BTEC: 18 units; or Cambridge Technical graded DDM
  • M at T Level
  • Access: Level 3 – 15 credits at distinction and 30 at merit
  • Open University minimum 60 credits.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in exercise prescription
  • Previous experience in health care
  • Timely management of patient medical records.
  • Ability to be aware of clinical & non-clinical complications & risks.
  • Written & verbal communication skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience as a Physiotherapy assistant
  • Previous experience in Rehabilitation Services
