In this role, you’ll be part of a friendly multi-disciplinary team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You’ll work with staff across the organisation and collaborate with a range of external partners. Your work will be crucial in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our IT infrastructure.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously assess and maintain the security of IT infrastructure
- Monitor systems for signs of security breaches and investigate alerts
- Provide technical security support and training to users
- Assist with IT audits and work towards Cyber Essentials Plus certification
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in maintaining the security of IT infrastructure, including firewalls, network switches, servers, VM environments, client machines, and cloud services.
- Proficiency in security-related software and tools, understanding of secure network architectures, experience with encryption and security protocols, and familiarity with threat modelling and risk assessments.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills to identify security threats and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to explain complex security issues to non-technical staff and provide security training and awareness.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and collaborating with a range of external partners.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential criteria
- IT related degree or equivalent qualification/relevant experience
- Understanding of Information Security principles.
Desirable criteria
- CISSP, CISM or Security + Certification
- Industry standard IT qualifications e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL
- Knowledge of the Data Protection Act
Experience
Essential criteria
- A working Knowledge of Health Computing Systems or a similar large organisation and data structures.
- Experience with network and switch technologies such as Wi-Fi, VLANs, Routers, Switches, Firewalls etc...
- DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policy Exchange, and Hyper-V experience
- Experience investigating the latest threats and trends.
- Experience of working with minimum supervision, with the ability to use initiative and experience to present solutions to overcome technically challenging issues
- Proficient in Microsoft Desktop operating systems and applications

- Experience of Penetration and Vulnerability Testing tools and techniques
