Hours: 37.5 per week plus participation in Executive on-call rota, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working
6 MONTH SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY
An opportunity has arisen to join the Executive Team as the Chief Operating Officer for unplanned care. Accountable for the overall operational performance for all unplanned care services across the Trust, you will be leading and co-ordinating delivery to ensure we are meeting all national and local performance targets and contractual requirements.
With a track record of providing strong strategic and operational senior leadership in an Acute NHS Trust and a passion for high quality patient care, you are able to drive delivery to ensure sustained operational performance is to a high standard. As a motivational senior leader, you have significant experience of operational management and are able to lead complex change management and redesign of services.

Main duties of the job
· Lead and coordinate the delivery of all unplanned care clinical services within the Trust and ensure these run effectively and efficiently
· Develop and sustain an overall approach to the provision of services and standards which is consistent with the values of the Trust
· Ensure planning and delivery mechanisms are in place to meet all national and local performance targets and contractual requirements
· Act as the executive lead contact for specialist and local commissioners and regulators for all matters relating to operational performance
· Ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely reporting on Trust performance
· Directly manage those corporate teams/individuals responsible for patient access and flow.
· Ensure the hospital operates smoothly and efficiently 24/7

- Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent qualification/ experience

- Substantial experience of operational management in large complex acute settings
- Senior management experience in an acute setting at deputy director level or above
- Exemplary track record of sustainable operational performance and achievements
- Management of complex change processes while maintaining sustained improvement against key performance indicators
- Strong track record of creating a climate and culture of high performance
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of NHS performance targets and regulatory requirements
- Deep understanding of diversity and the health profile of a defined population in the context of providing patient services
