To assist Consultant and junior medical staff, and laboratory based staff in the provision of an efficient, effective and comprehensive service in the cellular pathology department.

Responsibility also exists to carry out the requirements of the other Consultant Pathologists and the Junior Medical staff regarding typing of letters, second opinions, histology and cytology reports including macroscopic, microscopic and diagnostic descriptions, Coroner’s and Hospital post mortem reports and the circulation of any of the above.

This includes processing both NHS and Private Patient reports.

Use of skills and knowledge of medical terminology in order to complete all aspects of job description to the required standard

To provide secretarial support to laboratory managers, this is a busy role and the post holder will need to manager their own workload in an environment of frequent interruptions and conflicting demands.
