Job overview

The Cardiology service at Bucks Healthcare is well established and covers a wide range of services including implantation and follow up of pacemakers and complex devices, cardiac catheterisation and PCI and a variety of non-invasive diagnostic examinations.

We are looking for a cardiac physiologist with basic experience and knowledge of cardiac rhythm devices who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills OR a cardiac physiologist who is cath lab trained.

We are a friendly and supportive department, with a strong ethos of encouragement and support for staff with their ongoing CPD. We have good links with research and development and strong links with Imperial College Healthcare.

A BSc Cardiac Physiology qualification or equivalent is essential and accreditation in cardiac devices (BHRS, EHRA or IBHRE) is desirable but not essential.

Successful applicants who do not hold a CRM accreditation will be expected to achieve this within a specific time frame and will be offered support to do so.

Members of the cardiac physiology team will be expected to rotate around areas of cardiology such as the catheter labs (angiograms, PCI, PPCI, IVUS, OCT, FFR), exercise tolerance testing, tilt tests, tape analysis, device follow up, remote monitoring follow up and device implant to keep up existing skills so experience in those areas would be an advantage.

For any further information or an informal chat, please contact the Principal Cardiac Physiologist, Cheryl James.

Main duties of the job

To undertake the full range of invasive and non-invasive procedures carried out within the Cardiac Investigation service for Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.

The jobholder will participate in the training of junior members of the department. (Cardiac associate practitioners and Trainee Cardiac Physiologists).  They will be able to work unsupervised in all areas and be responsible for the day to day running of any area in which they are working.

We are a friendly and supportive department, with a strong ethos of encouragement and support for staff with their ongoing CPD. We have good links with research and development and strong links with Imperial College Healthcare. We are committed to providing our patients with the highest level of care possible. There are regular training sessions within the area of CRM and attendance at conferences or further training will be encouraged.
