Job overview
Due to retirement an opportunity has arisen for Senior Chief Maxillofacial Technologist/Laboratory Manager, the post is based in the Department of Oral Surgery & Orthodontics at Stoke Mandeville Hospital which incorporates the National Spinal Injuries Centre and is the regional centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery.
You must have an appropriate dental technology qualification such as a National Diploma, be registered with the GDC and have a minimum of seven to ten years post qualification.
Experience in the use of 3D scanning/CADCAM design & 3D printing is essential as the department is in the process of moving towards delivering this service.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for running the Laboratory and the provision of laboratory services for the Trust which include the production of:
- Orthodontic appliances including removable, fixed and myofunctional.
- Prosthetic and periodontal appliances as necessary, including resin bonded bridges.
- Mouth-stick appliances for spinal injury patients.
