As the Professional Lead for Safeguarding, you will provide leadership, management and expertise within this specialist field, encompassing Adults and Children's Services in both Acute and Community settings.

Main duties of the job

As the successful post-holder, you will continually assess the training and development needs relating to safeguarding for the whole organisation, and plan with the education team and colleagues in the Local Authority on how to deliver the training required. You will work with the whole organisation to enable compliance with statutory training requirements adjusting to legal changes as required.

In addition, you will lead on the monitoring and reporting on safeguarding performance indicators. You will prepare reports for the Safeguarding Committee and Quality committee. You will also brief the Executive Team on organisational responsibilities in safeguarding writing quarterly and annual board reports to provide assurance.

The successful post-holder will have extensive experience within a senior Safeguarding role within a health or social care setting. You will need current registration with NMC/HCPC or Social Work England/Wales/Scotland to apply for this position.

  • Registered Nurse or Midwife
  • Relevant Masters or Equivalent Experience in Safeguarding
  • Evidence of On-going development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive experience at Senior Nurse/Midwife level
  • Proven experience in Safeguarding
  • Demonstrable experience of Managing teams
  • Demonstrable experience of working across organisational boundaries
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of chairing meetings and managing diverse attendance and contributions

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Has excellent standard of written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to engage with and successfully convey highly complex information and concepts to audiences at all levels of the organisation and across organisational boundaries
  • Understanding of Information and Clinical Governance / risk management including report writing
