Job overview
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic individual to join the Fetal Medicine Unit at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust as a substantive Fetal and Maternal Medicine Consultant. This is a full time post and the successful individual will join the existing MFM consultant to jointly run the Unit. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PA’s).
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust providing community, acute and specialist care in our hospitals. The job will be based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital a large district hospital providing a full range of services through 479 beds.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has 20 Consultants and this is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and dedicated team providing first class care to our patient population You will be joining a unit with up to 5000 deliveries per annum and will be expected to provide consultant level care to complex antenatal patients and offer a service for acute and elective Obstetrics. As a part of the Fetal Medicine team you will contribute to supporting and developing the service working closely with the existing consultant.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have a job plan based on 10 PA. The post holder would be expected to support the maternal and fetal medicine service and contribute towards the management of fetal anomaly referrals, perform anomaly scans and invasive investigations, working closely with the screening team. You will be expected to manage complex antenatal patients and medical complications of pregnancy and offer a service for acute and elective Obstetrics.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate will play an important part in day to day management of antenatal and postnatal patients, and in the running of the labour ward. The post also includes an alternate week gynaecology clinic and day surgery operating though this is optional.
