Trosolwg o'r swydd

This is a really exciting time to join us in The Acute Oncology Service at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust.  Based on feedback from the people who work with us and the people we care for, in 2023 we will be launching our new Cancer Strategy.  A supported, diverse and clinically enabled workforce will be central to our main objectives.    As an organisation our CARE values are at the heart of everything we do, and in cancer services it is vital you are compassionate, committed to high quality care and have the skills and abilities to contribute to generating and delivering the latest in evidence based practice.

You will need the relevant qualifications in nursing and cancer care or experience in acute medicine, a dynamic individual with the ability to motivate and influence others. You must have the ability to work both independently and as part of a specialist team and ensure that patient care is at the absolute core of every decision.

This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced cancer nurses demonstrating advanced practice and non-medical prescribing. We are consistently working as a multi-professional team to continually develop our Acute Oncology Service.

The service triages and works collaboratively with the Acute Medical teams for acutely unwell cancer patients, who have recently received cancer treatment(s) and those presenting with acute oncology emergencies.

The post holder will work as part of the Acute Oncology Nursing Team to give advice and implement patient care in an area which requires specific clinical knowledge, skills and experience over a 7-day working week. The focus will be to provide patients with the support they require to help manage acute episodes of care during diagnosis of cancer and a range of cancer treatments. This support will maximise the ability of patients to cope during the acute illness phase of their crisis, preventing acute admission to hospital and shorten inpatient stays.  Partnership with clinical colleagues in oncology, palliative care, acute medicine, radiology and pathology will be essential to ensure quality of care to the patients and carers is maximised.

This post holder will contribute to the development of clinical guidelines & the delivery of education programmes.

This post holder will work in conjunction with the existing team  and provide a seven-day Acute Oncology Nursing Service.
