 To act as senior clinical governance facilitator and deputise for the clinical governance lead, responsible for providing support to ensure that Trust-wide compliance with governance is managed.

The key role of the post is to facilitate the timely investigation and production of the associated reports including patient safety incidents and complaints response.  This requires supporting staff from all different departments and seniority who are nominated to investigate, produce the investigation reports, and maintain compliance with CQC regulation 20 regarding duty of candour.

Facilitate embedding of the learning from the numerous different clinical governance processes is integral to this post such as theming of patient safety incidents, complaints and patient feedbacks, audits, and survey reports.  The post holder contributes to this process to enable the division to be part of the wider organisation that can demonstrate it learns with clear evidence of a culture of continuous improvement.

  The post-holder will exercise initiative, independent judgment and decision making arising from situations within this role and will liaise with medical, nursing, administrative and managerial staff from all areas within the Trust.

  • Support and manage clinical governance arrangements for the division/care group taking the lead for monitoring incoming reported patient safety incidents for escalation and production of associated reports.
  • Support members of the division/care group to implement duty of candour is a timely manner.
  • As part of the clinical governance team, work collaboratively to ensure systems and records are in place and up to date.
  • To assist in the management of incident and complaint investigations and monitoring of action plans.
  • Work with clinical governance lead and head of nursing/midwifery to support staff to deliver health and safety strategy, including supporting with risk assessments and action plans.
  • Any other duties commensurate with band as per directed by the Clinical Governance Lead and/or Deputy Chief Nurse

  • Post graduate diploma level knowledge and degree related to healthcare management or relevant demonstrable experience
  • Previous clinical governance, quality improvement or patient safety coordinator/facilitator experience at band 5 or above or equivalent experience
  • Excel and power-point skills and information analysis
  • Ability to understand and write English Language to GCSE level grade C or above, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of clinical audit processes, methodologies, project management acquired through training, experience to degree level equivalent
  • Strong planning and organisational skills

Experience
