Job overview
An exciting opportunity has open up for a talented and enthusiastic staff nurses who wants to broaden their horizon in the field of Nursing and willing to join our dynamic Endoscopy team .
The Endoscopy services at BHT are expanding, providing a service over a 7-day period to meet capacity demands and to improve patient experience. As such we are increasing our workforce to allow for this service development.
If you are a registered nurse who already has Endoscopy experience or you are someone who is willing to learn new skills and you are enthusiastic about supporting service and staff development for the benefit of patients, we would like to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
- Recognise the significance of the observations made on the patient’s vital signs and use these to develop an initial nursing assessment, escalating when appropriate.
- Promote and participate in the patient’s health programmes. Ensure planned nursing care is delivered safely and effectively considering the views of the patient and their relatives. A partnership followed through to discharge planning incorporating other health care professionals when necessary to ensure that patients receive optimum car.
- Liaise, report and document any relevant nursing/patient needs with other health care professionals with ongoing responsibility for patient care, communicating changes as they occur.
- Responsible for the timely entry of accurate, complete and valid data into the specialist Endoscopy reporting system.
- Promote health education within the Endoscopy Unit and be able to advise the patients and their relatives and others in health promotion issues.
- Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy and critical judgement.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment, which will ensure the highest clinical standards within the area, adhering to the COSHH regulations.

- Relevant post registration course – Endoscopy/ Gastroenterology related
- Mentorship course
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Experience of using an electronic patient record system
Desirable criteria
- Post registration experience in Endoscopy
- Experience of MDT working
- Experience of working with patients with Gastroenterology conditions
- Experience of clinical teaching
