Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen  for a  band 6 Plastic Specialist Dressings Nurse in the outpatient team based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

If you are passionate about point of care delivery and working within the specialised field of Plastic dressings then please apply.

Main duties of the job

 * Assess patient wounds, offer advice and practical support to patients attending these clinics

* Patient and staff education

*Help with the discharge of patients from the hospital dressing clinic to GP and community services for continuing care

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in related field (or equivalent experience)
  • RN (adult)
Desirable criteria
  • Completion of appropriate management and leadership programme

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively communicate on the telephone and face to face in English
  • Managerial and leadership ability
  • Knowledge of plastics dressings
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues and policies
  • Experience in researching improvements and developments in desired field.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of teaching Trained Nurses, Health Care assistants and students
  • Experience in wound care and plastic dressings
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in an outpatient setting.
