Job overview

An exciting 12 month fixed term/secondment opportunity has arisen for a full-time Band 4 Health Records Senior Team Leader to support the provision of a comprehensive, efficient and effective service for the Health Records managed within Digital Services at Weston General Hospital.

Applicants will need to be proactive and have exceptional organisation skills. The successful candidate will need to be able to communicate with both their team and all levels of staff internally and externally in a professional manner.

Applicants must have a keen eye for detail and possess a level of staff management, as the job will involve supporting the management of an extremely busy health records department.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for supporting the Health Records Team Leader with operational leadership of the Health Records Department, its performance, quality, resourcing (including leading on the patients’ records offsite storage facility), auditing and training.

 

Although currently the department works solely with paper files you will be part of a team that will help Weston move more to an electronic system and you will play a major role in the department moving forward and achieving this goal.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Working in a busy environment
  • Understanding of Information Governance issues, including Data Protection, Records Management and Confidentiality
  • Experience of dealing with the public and other agencies, both on the telephone and in person
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of leading a team

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Commitment to the provision of a high quality Medical Records, Scanning service, which supports the improvement of patient services
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Equivalent level of experience
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 4/or the Certificate of the institute of Health Record & Information Management (IHRIM)
  • ECDL
