Job overview

A bank post has arisen in the Cytology department for patient data entry and administration duties. Cytology is a friendly team of professionals.  Full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

  1. Receive the smear samples from surgeries.
  2. Unpack smear samples and prepare them for processing.
  3. Input sample’s forms data in the system (Winpath) using Chronoscan or manually, scan them if they are not and store the forms in the correct place.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. Receive the smear samples from surgeries.
  2. Unpack smear samples and prepare them for processing.
  3. Input sample’s forms data in the system (Winpath) using Chronoscan or manually, scan them if they are not and store the forms in the correct place.
  4. Sending reports with results by post or electronically.
  5. Record (SXI) the samples that arrived from other areas of the trust, misdirected reports and undelivered samples and resend them to the right location if need it. Fill out spreadsheet records for these cases.
  6. Send Direct Referrals electronically to the surgeries.
  7. Attend phone enquiries from surgeries, CSAS and hospitals.
  8. Prepare LBC orders for Hospitals and redirect Surgeries to provider CellPath.
  9. Deliver the prepared slides for HPV team, BMS/NG lab.
  10. Filling slides.
  11. Answer the Cytology enquires emails.
  12. Stock control - taking consumables in correct order

Essential criteria
  • Experience of using hospital administration systems
  • Able to communicate highly complex and sensitive information.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
