Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic specialty doctor to join our Regional Tertiary Neonatal Unit. You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team providing clinically excellent care to all babies across the South Western Operational Delivery Network. We are looking for an individual who would be able to take up this post from early 2025.
The Regional Neonatal Unit at Southmead is a Tertiary centre with excellent clinical outcomes. We work closely with our neighbouring unit at St. Michael’s Hospital as joint lead centre for the northern half of the South West Neonatal Network. We have 34 neonatal cots of which 16 are designated intensive/high dependency.
The post will attract 10 PAs and will work a shift system during on call hours.
Main duties of the job
Full Registration with the GMC is essential. The post is based at Southmead Hospital. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. The successful candidates will be employed under Terms & Conditions of Service for specialist grade (England) 2021: SAS Contract 2021. Qualifications and Registration
Essential criteria
- MRCP/MRCPCH or equivalent
- Maintain Full registration with the GMC
Desirable criteria
- Higher academic qualification (e.g. MD or MSc)
- NLS Instructor
Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- Recent experience and familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years’ medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of 2 years should have been in a relevant specialty
- Evidence of extensive experience within Tertiary neonatal services
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Essential criteria
- Proven evidence of involvement in QI processes
- Willingness to undertake teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates
- Willingness to be involved in research
Desirable criteria
- Experience on simulation teaching
- Proven teaching ability
