We are delighted to be advertising the role of Associate Medical Director (Associate Chief Medical Officer) for Sirona care & health (up to two posts). This is an exciting time for Sirona as we step into a future where community services are pivotal to the transformation of services to ensure a sustainable and integrated health and care system. As the single community provider in our Integrated Care System, this puts Sirona at the heart of system transformation and provides an exciting opportunity for us to be innovative and ground-breaking in new ways of working.  

Sirona is committed to collaborative working with our partners and embedding a strong community voice.  We therefore welcome discussions regarding innovative and ‘split’ posts, working across primary and secondary care, and can offer secondment opportunities. 

The post is anticipated to be 4-10 sessions/PA’s.  Full time with clinical time included may be considered, where appropriate. As Associate Medical Director you will have a significant role in supporting our medical workforce, including designing, and delivering innovative solutions to meet our aspirations. You will support the development of a Clinical Strategy, setting the strategic direction for Sirona in the development and delivery of high-quality clinical pathways and models of care. You will be focused on supporting our clinicians in addressing local needs, tackling health inequalities, supporting better outcomes for local people. 

Main duties of the job

The role of Associate Medical Director (AMD) provides a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational leader to join our Senior Leadership team, to achieve our vision of Improved Outcomes for All ensuring we focus on the impact we have on individuals and communities and tackling the huge inequalities that exist for people. 

As AMD you will have a significant role in designing and delivering innovative solutions to meet our aspirations. Addressing local needs, tackling health inequalities, supporting better outcomes for local people and securing close working relationships with clinicians and practitioners across the whole system of care and support will be key elements of your role.

You will lead on the management of our medical workforce, developing and implementing innovative models to help ensure equality, diversity and inclusion are integral to our workforce planning, whilst also ensuring our skill mix meets the needs of our population.  The AMD post holder will also take a vital role in the governance and management of our medication strategy, where you will be supported by our pharmacy teams to ensure the necessary support.

  • Medical degree
  • Royal College membership
  • Evidence of ongoing management and professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Management and Leadership qualification / training
  • Current and credible experience as a medical practitioner
  • Maintaining High Professional Standards training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Senior professional with experience of high-level leadership and management
  • Extensive experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Developing and implementing clinically related strategies to improve quality and efficiency of systems
  • Successful track record delivering high quality services in a large complex multi-disciplinary healthcare environment
  • Evidence of management of performance issues
  • Leading change in challenging environments
Desirable criteria
  • Budgetary management experience
  • Experience in tackling health inequalities and improving access
  • Knowledge and experience of Quality Improvement methodology and implementation
