Job overview
The post holder will provide the clinical and managerial leadership for the Plastics & Breast Cluster. They will be supervisory in clinical practice, responsible for ensuring that standards of care are upheld at all times.
Working with the Matron they will take responsibility for providing a clear focus for the profession and effective clinical leadership and accountability for the Plastics & Breast Cluster. They will be responsible for ensuring that they and their team act in a manner that upholds the values of the Trust and that of the profession.

QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIAL TRAINING
Essential criteria
- 1st Level Registered Nurse /Operating Department Practitioner
- Post registration qualification in area of specialism
- Recognised teaching and assessing and mentoring qualification
- Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable criteria
- Educated to degree level as a minimum (or equivalent)
- Working towards a Masters level qualification
- Evidence of RCA training/ability to undertake RCA’s
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Essential criteria
- Appropriate post registration experience (4 yrs +)
- Good organisational and personal effectiveness skills
- Assertive and confident in their approach to managing at department level within a multi-disciplinary environment
- Awareness of professional responsibilities to self and others
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
- Excellent written ,verbal and non-verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of working to current nursing quality and patient safety indicators
- I.T skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook Email
- Ability to prioritise work and manage deadlines
- Ability to lead and work for as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders of the peri-operative environment impacting on patient safety and theatre efficiency
EXPERIENCE:
Essential criteria
- Able to conduct audit and implement change to improve patient safety and experience of service
- Post registration experience within peri-operative practice across a variety of clinical specialities and professional specialism
- Experience of managing resources and staff within a critical environment
- Proven experience of teaching and assessing
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Essential criteria
- High level of interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and achieve success through, and with others
- Able to support staff and develop conducive team building and team working
- Able to work under pressure and demonstrate effective stress management and organisational and time management skills
- Able to challenge, and to take appropriate action to correct poor or unsatisfactory working practices
