There is a exciting new opportunity to help develop and deliver a new dual diagnosis support service in Wolverhampton, The posts are part of a new OHID initiative to enhance mental health and substance misuse and build on continuity of care within services.

 

The post holder will have opportunities to develop skills in team-based working, specialist assessment, shared formulation, and application of evidence-based psychological interventions to help service users achieve their rehabilitation goals. They will also be supported to develop their leadership and management skills. The post holder will be delivering training and support to mental health teams across Wolverhampton supporting services and clients with dual diagnosis. Post holder must have a good knowledge of substance misuse and working within dual diagnosis


Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams and with clients from culturally and socially diverse communities who have range of mental health needs is desirable, as is the motivation to support positive risk taking so service users can lead as autonomous and valued a life as possible. We also support multidisciplinary colleagues to build knowledge, skills, and confidence by delivering a programme of training, supervision, and reflective practice, to which the post holder would contribute.

The role will also include responsibility for leadership of psychological therapies and delivery of a NICE concordant service to individuals in the service. This will involve provision of highly specialist psychological assessments and therapy, line management and clinical supervision of psychological practitioners, consultation, service development, research, and teaching/training to other mental health services in Wolverhampton, as required.

Undertakes highly specialist psychological assessments of complex cases, assessing personality, beliefs, attitudes, behaviour, emotional function, and other relevant psychological characteristics and dimensions and factors relevant to the development, maintenance and understanding of the client’s difficulties as appropriate, using standardised psychometric instruments, protocol based assessment tools, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and structured and semi-structured interviews as required. Utilises assessment techniques directly with clients and collects information from family members and others involved in the client’s care as appropriate

  • Satisfactory completion of a Health and Care Professions Council/British Psychological Society accredited postgraduate professional training course in Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychology
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  • Substantial experience of working as a qualified Practitioner Psychologist at the Senior (Band 8a) level.

  • Post-doctoral training in two or more highly specialist areas of psychological practice.
  • Pre-qualification training or additional qualifications in an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or other psychological therapy, research, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
  • Significant management and/or leadership training
