Job overview

The post holder will provide scientific support for the day to day provision of nuclear medicine services. The key responsibilities of the post are to undertake quality assurance, provision of scientific advice and radiation protection services in support of the use of radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosis and therapy in the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and other sites as per contracts.  The range of equipment concerned includes all radionuclide measuring equipment for patient dose determination and environmental control, radiopharmacy and associated aseptic facilities and gamma cameras for patient imaging.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible to the Head of Nuclear Medicine for the work and service development carried out in the subdivision in the field of Nuclear Medicine, and associated Radiation Protection and Quality Assurance.

To be responsible for the completion of Nuclear Medicine Quality Assurance programmes on the gamma camera and other complex items of equipment and produce relevant reports.

To participate in the completion of Radiation Protection Surveys of radionuclide facilities,  monitoring the outcome in order to maintain and improve standards, producing reports as necessary.

To participate in all aspects of Nuclear Medicine associated with diagnosis and treatment of patients including quality control and the management of protocols and procedures. This will include both diagnostic imaging and non-imaging procedures, and therapeutic procedures.
