Job overview

If you are a highly skilled mammographer with plenty of enthusiasm for both your job and your work environment New Cross Hospital is the place for you.

We are a small Breast Imaging department made up of enthusiastic,  mammographers and consultants. Although small we take pride in carrying out all aspects of mammography including Symptomatic and Assessment clinics to a high standard.

Every member of staff is considered to be an equally valued part of our hard working team, which has resulted in the department becoming an exceptionally supportive place to work.

We are passionate about providing excellent patient care and as a senior mammographer, you will be an integral part of the patients care and journey through radiology. We are equally committed to growing you as a professional and have multiple opportunities for growth and career progression including post graduate training and advanced learning/development.

Previous experience in these areas is desirable, but it is by no means essential. We will actively support development and training for radiographers who have a desire to work in these specialty areas but may not yet have the necessary skills. Under these circumstances training under Annex 21 of Agenda for Change will apply.

The core working hours for our staff are Monday to Friday 09.00 – 17.00.  Weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required as part of this post.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be able:

To perform mammograms for both Symptomatic and Surveillance patients in the Breast Imaging Department and to perform more specialised views in Assessment clinics

To carry out daily QA testing.

To work flexibly over 7 days to provide the highest possible standard of patient care.

The post holder will work in the breast imaging department, undertaking radiographic duties, and supporting the Advanced Practitioners, Consultant Practitioners and Consultant Radiologists.

The post holder will work flexibly to provide these services between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm, including weekends when necessary.

Working for our organisation

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS trusts in the West Midlands providing primary, acute and community services and we are incredibly proud of the diversity of both our staff and the communities we serve.  We are building a workforce that can help us to fulfil our values, improve the quality of care for patients, and solve the health care problems of tomorrow. We’re passionate about the value that diversity of thinking and lived experience brings in enabling us to become a learning organisation and leader in delivering compassionate care for our patients.

We are delighted that we have been rated as “Good” by CQC. We have achieved numerous awards; The Nursing Times Best Diversity and Inclusion Practice and Best UK Employer of the Year for Nursing Staff in 2020.

The Trust is a supportive working environment committed to creating flexible working arrangements that suit your needs and as such will consider all requests from applicants who wish to work flexibly.
